Default Changing side in factions

Hi people i have a question i don't know if there are people that know it .

My question is :

In Guild Wars factions you can choose a side witch u should fight for so you fight with alliances to take over towns etc etc .

What if you want to join the guild of your friend but he is fighting for the other side can you join the guild or can you change side ?
Or is it just like WoW that when you choose a side you can't change it annymore ?

Well thx

I doubt it, maybe that GUILD that joins that SIDE, is there forever. But if you leave that guild you can join another guild that joined the other faction. OR the guild leader can choose to switch factions if wanted, seeing the guild leader chooses which faction the guild goes to in the first place. But only we can speculate, lets see this PVE weekend.

I doubt if we will get any idea about switching factions this weekend, if factions even have any part in the weekend event. We'll see.

In interview, they have indicated to join a side, you do quests for that faction to get in there favor with them (and make enemy of the other side as well). To switch you have to start doing missions/quests for the other side.

Not sure how this factor's in with your guild.

My understanding is that your guild will have to join a side and then you will be forced to join that side as well. what I don't like, or maybe I misunderstand, is that all your characters will be on that side as well. I really like to play both sides on different characters or two assasins on either side ( I have free slots for all of them). I also like to be able to play against my guild member. That sounds a lot of fun.

That will open a whole fresh can of worms i.e. people being able to "spy" on the opposing faction by having characters on both.

My opinion is that GW made the game as unconstraining as possible so you will probably be able to change sides. For example, GW allows you to change your 2nd profession and attributes without any penalty.

You can switch sides by doing things ( quests, missions, liquidations? ) for the opposite party, but then ofcourse you will be hated more by the other side...so watch your backs

( At least I think that's how I read it a while ago )

this might coincide with the competitive quests that were talked about
